This retooling of the Padlock shoulder bag is really doing it for me. It’s like the architecture has been stripped down and rebuilt to satisfy modern eyes. And that woven panel is a brilliant design touch – a visual escape from the super-structured, boxy shape. That’s not to say structured is bad; I’m so glad to see Balenciaga giving their once-floppy bags a bit of hardness. Right now, it’s all about contained shape, but I can always use a twist with anything (say, a lime or lemon or both!).
With just enough zest, the sandy panel of woven leather isn’t too crazy-textural, but it makes you look twice. Just what you want in a bag you’ll be carrying 24/7. I’ve been all about the shoulder bag lately and between this and the linen-and-leather Michael Kors, I might have my hands full (as in, I’ve got all the shoulder bags I need for now). So when I want to give Kors a rest, this will be the go-to. All-season, all-day, with function to keep you uncompromised: structure does Balenciaga well. On My Theresa for $1,595.
Pair with: Long days call for shoes that can stand up to your needs. My favorite new chunky-chic wedges give you height without killing your feet. Wood or cork platforms by Reed Krakoff ($795), Michael Kors ($745), and Common Projects ($620) will all look fresh.
wow love your sunglasses! and amazing post 🙂
beautiful bag.
