I love a bag you can look forward to even after you’ve made it yours. There’s something to be said for leather that will age beautifully as you beat it up. Few execute that kind of skin as well as Ralph Lauren. Like my traditional saddle bag, this leather is sure to get scratched, darkened, and deepened with use, but instead of fretting about it, I welcome it.
There’s nothing like the liberation that comes with low-maintenance bags. It’s pure enjoyment, from start to finish. Especially if it’s a style as accommodating as this tote – leather like this, matte and caramel, is practically begging to get abused! This big, open style luckily has interior pouches and pockets, including a removable zipper pouch that can be used on its own (I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love this feature!).
Ralph Lauren has an amazing bag collection in store for Fall, bursting with exciting new textures and shapes, but this is quintessential RL. And sometimes that’s what will satisfy my desire, it speaks to the old fashioned side of me. At Saks Fifth Avenue for $1,650.
Pair with: Some suede next to this leather will be as smooth as butter, and Superfine’s Flash Friend suede-front jeans feel just as good. Dusty-rose suede and stretchy cotton will be neutral and textural paired with this tote. On Net-a-Porter
