Kenzo Nylon Logo Bag: A Good Sport?

Lately, Tina and I both have rediscovered a newfound appreciation for revitalized Japanese brand Kenzo, which has been around since 1970. Spring 2012 is the first season designed by the ultra-cool duo behind Opening Ceremony, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, and the pair was all about high energy, funky patterns, and dynamic colors for their initial run.

If you’re talking runway show, the sporty mood of this mini-bag perfectly suits the athletic-meets-street demeanor of the show: funky and a little kooky, but nothing so out-there it can’t be appropriated to real life. But standing alone, I can’t say this little bucket is doing much for me (although, I have to admit the baby size is pretty cute). I appreciate the youthful, gutsy pairing of lemon yellow and primary blue, but the weirdly flesh-toned leather bits make for a jarring palette. And knowing Lim and Leon, the overt logo is likely an ironic nod to branding overkill, but it doesn’t quite read that way. I have a feeling an Opening Ceremony-addict might be able to make this work, but is the bag worth the trouble? What’s your opinion on Kenzo’s frugal-approved satchel: Snob or Slob? On Luisa Via Roma for $348.
