I’m going to Cancun next week – yes, I’m doing a classic spring-break locale! Half of my suitcase will consist of sunblock and sunblocking items (hats, hats, and more hats).
I used to use a Shiseido sunscreen, which is very similar to La Roche-Posay’s ultra-light formula, but it was so greasy and made my complexion so white, it only worked for golfing (where looking good comes secondary to skin damage from five hours in the sun).
This one is totally different: it’s very liquid-y and goes on seemingly light, but SPF60 is, as the name informs, extreme. Actually, Athelios 60 Ultra-Light Sunscreen Fluid Extreme is the one sunblock recommended by doctors for those with Lupus, the disease that requires complete protection from the sun. Take that, damaging rays!
The small packaging is as deceptive as the texture. You only need a little so it goes a long way, which makes it an even better choice for traveling. Shake it up before use and apply just a dime size amount. It will be more than enough (I even had leftover lotion to spread on my hands and arms). Choose between matte or luster finish – both are non-greasy. Luster has a nice silky effect if that’s all you’re wearing, while the matte is ideal for layering foundation on top.
The best defense you will get and the price beats any top brand. The vacation is on! On Drugstore.com for $29.50.
I LOVE this. But don’t just use a tiny amount and spread it over your face. I was taught by my dermatologist & makeup artists that sunblock work as a physical barrier than sits on your skin. Pour out a pretty big amount (and I mean like a 50p coin) and then slather it all over your face and neck. I do this twice, and then top up another extra on my cheekbones & forehead & nose – areas where you’re prone to freckles!
Very nice! I’ve never used an SPF 60 product, but I may give this a try. Keep your skin safe while in Cancun, and have fun!
