Sleek and modern: that’s is the epitome of Jil Sander (and that point was driven home at their recent Fall 2012 show in Milan, Raf Simons’ enchanting final collection for the brand). Personally, I cannot wait for Jil to return to her namesake brand. She was my favorite designer for the longest time. When I got married, my mom bought me a new wardrobe as my gift (because I was moving to Boston and needed things other than T-shirts and sundresses), and the vast majority strictly consisted of Sander.
This supremely simple shoulder bag may not set off fireworks, but not all bags need a big, crackling spark to raise your pulse. It is the perfected simplicity that makes it covetable.
Sometimes you can forget how good smooth, black leather can look – this is just divine! Especially against a slick metal bar and thin (yet not dainty) straps: subtle but totally polished. Both straps detach so you have plenty of options for wear, and trust me, this is the kind of bag you will wear to death. At Saks Fifth Avenue for $1,230.
Pair with: This looks so good, it makes me want to keep things minimal. Maiyet’s Jackie wedge has clean lines and a gold metal band. Why not mix up your metals? At Barneys New York for $995.
