Emma Roberts vs. Dree Hemingway: Battle of the Yves Saint Laurent Babes

Who really wore the pants: the actress or the model? The girls of equally famous family members (Emma calls Julia her aunt; Dree’s grandfather was Ernest) put opposite spins on the formal-pants look at the Metropolitan Opera Gala last night, sponsored by Yves Saint Laurent. Naturally, every ingénue there was sporting the designer du jour. But the really important question is: who carried her itty-bitty clutch better?

Emma elected black-on-black and left the spark to her be-sequined waist. Her cylinder-shaped minaudiere was a fitting compliment to a spunky disco-inspired jumpsuit. Ever-quirky Dree, on the other hand, might have had some wrinkle issues with her overtly nonchalant, two-piece look, but her fuchsia minaudiere saves the look, in my book.

  1. Dree ALL THE WAY. She carried the look off with total confidence. What wrinkles? Hardly noticeable because it looks like she just. doesn’t. care. Very appealing. Plus: who dresses like a gothic playboy bunny to go the the Metropolitan Opera???

  2. Dree’s GREAT-grandfather was Ernest Hemingway. Her mom is former model/actress Mariel, her late aunt, model Margaux, their father, writer Jack Hemingway.
Dree seems more appropriately dressed in a simple chic way.
