It’s no easy feat to steal the spotlight from Mick Jagger, especially in his sixties-London prime, but better half (at least for awhile) Marianne Faithful managed to do it. No surprise she’s the main muse for Rachel Zoe’s latest collection. Boyish plaid suits and girlish bow collars, mini-hemlines seen on cape-coats and sweater-dresses, inviting tufts of fur for chubby coats (like the Darcy vintage raccoon faux-fur bomber, $495) and decadent collars, and tons of velvet all added up to rock-star girlfriend cool.
It wouldn’t be Rachel Zoe without a generous heaping of sequins (as seen on the Rosie top, $325) – or an emphasis on accessories. Even though her flared black Rachel jean ($195) is destined to be a closet staple, Rachel proves herself a bag-and-shoe girl at heart. The plush velvet-and-lacquered Lila platform ($355) and sleek yet heightening ankle boots are palatable counterparts to super-shiny oversized bags, slouchy suede crossbodies, and shoulder styles with appropriately louche extra-long straps. It’s all about insouciant sexiness. And the bags are true to character: whether you’re a groupie or rocker in your own right, you’re something of a nomad who needs to move.
These new handbags are hot. Very nice look for 2012
