I had intended to do an update on how my Slow Carb Diet is doing a bit sooner than this, but the holidays got in the way. I was on a total roll staying diligent for a solid 4 weeks and then Thanksgiving hit and you know the rest. And I just got back from Florence for the Luisa via Roma Firenze4Ever Style Lab, so that was no help in regards to dieting. But now that I’m seeing pictures from the event (there were a lot of press there, this one taken by MyDaily UK) I am seeing that all that holiday eating didn’t win, I won! Well, this way of eating did. It is truly amazing. Tim Ferris, the author of the Slow Carb Diet book (official title is The 4-Hour Body: An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Superhuman) said that as long as I stick to the diet for breakfast, I should be able to keep the weight off no matter how far I veer otherwise. And I veered (gravy on chocolate pie, anyone?). I mean, I wasn’t even that good about sticking to the breakfast. The point is, the weight loss from this diet STAYS OFF!!
Now that things are back to normal, I plan on tackling the rest of my goal of 13 more pounds. All the recent eating and drinking is making me crave a detox anyway. And all the bad is actually very good for weight loss (that is, if you don’t gain the weight back) because my body is completely out of the stressed out starvation mode and I am completely rejuvenated and looking forward to less eating. I am expecting the next 6-7 pounds to slide right off. And that last 5 or 6? If I can’t ever get that off, I will certainly not cry about it. Because look at these before and after photos, I am already so happy with the results (if I should say so myself).
Now that I know all the effort I put into this diet will STAY OFF, I am super motivated and encouraged. It will make each day that much more pleasant. And if you read my first story, I am not kidding when I say that this diet, this way of eating, is really not that painful at all. You get to eat, and you get full. You also get to drink red wine everyday, so if you can’t fully detox, no problems! And there is that one day of cheating!
I know it is January so resolutions are as cheap as a $5 hooker, but for once in my life I have a full arsenal to actually get that summer body everyone attempts at this time of year. Will I be in a bikini and expect to be on SI? Yeah, right. No, my goals are realistic but my results so far have really been astounding and have surpassed my expectations. I think this 2 step approach has turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Split your goal in half and take a break in between. I will report back much sooner this time! And next time, I will get a picture wearing a short dress! =)
