This takes the concept of the boxy bag to the next level. Toting a carryall primarily for the sake of sheer novelty? I say yes, as long as it suits your style and holds your necessities. Marc Cross’ trunk is a fun piece that will catch fellow snobs’ attention.
It has a shape reminiscent of an old-school lunch box and opens up in dramatic fashion, like a suitcase trunk (although Paige Gamble was the original designer of the true lunchbox bag). Press the gold-tone push-lock and your smooth leather box pops open to reveal a bright red interior. A surprising lining is always a pleasing touch and this flush of color invites you in, but I still think Louboutin has the patent on the scarlet detail.
It’s cute and funky, so you have to wear it that way. A quirky bag like this is for the alternative girl who is more Zooey Deschanel than Charlize Theron (although I love them both!). Know your style and your bag will follow suit!
Available for pre-order at Barneys New York for $1,995 (They predict a February deliver, but in my experience, items usually arrive sooner than they say).
Pair with: Play up the offbeat appeal with a pair of vintage-esque Yves Saint Laurent shorts. Red cotton-canvas and gold anchor-stamped buttons make for a perfect match.
On Net-a-Porter for $750.
It has a very cool business casual feel to it. But with the red lining that adds a bit of unexpected flare to it too!
Marc Cross is the purse that Grace Kelly pulled her little nightie out of in the movie Rear Window. I loved Jimmy Stewarts’ expression when he saw what that little bag could carry.
Any plans for the weekend? ..
This Trunk Bag looks gorges and judging the previous item I had from Mark Cross I think the quality will be outstanding as well. But looks like I have to open some savings plan for this 🙂
