Remember when decorative zippers were reserved for members of the Sex Pistols and eighties-era St. Mark’s Place punks? Those days are long gone. As in, centuries long gone. While we tend to appreciate our bags’ zippers for the closure they provide, Fendi proves the zipper can serve another purpose. This one doesn’t function for the sake anything but aesthetic interest – and that’s functioning interest to me!
Actually, the way this gold-tone zip swerves around the body, separating the top area from the rest into a slice of leather, makes the satchel look like a peeled-open orange. In a yummy, tumbled lambskin kind of way. A top zipper seals the roomy satchel up, making this a practical day option. But it’s the fact that’s it both Fendi and logo-less really makes it worthy of celebration. They’ve wizened up, realizing that distressed pewter leather (it’s a color, but it’s also a neutral) with a cool twist is sometimes all a bag needs.
