The most annoying aspect of any stroller is collapsing it. No one knows that better than 4Moms, who designed the Origami stroller. It automatically opens and folds with just a push of a button (well, almost…). Having pinched my own daughter’s finger in our Maclaren stroller (thankfully, nothing serious happened) I am traumatized by the thought of accidentally crushing a tot’s body part in this push-of-a-button action.
However, according to the manufacturer, this will not happen. It takes two steps to fold the Origami: you have to turn the activation ring and then bush the button. It also has a hidden lock switch so your toddler won’t close it by accident. The steps are simple, but they ensure its safety.
It also has “zero pinch points.” It collapses by a telescoping method, not actually by folding or snapping. This is a great design, considering the number of pinches our little ones have sustained with other strollers.
The Origami stroller comes with lots of other great features. It has light reflectors for nighttime strolling, a reclining seat, off-road style wheels for easy rolling, and four cup holders – I think that’s a record! It also has a three-pocket detachable handlebar bag for storage and, believe it or not, a USB power cable to not only charge the stroller, but your cell phone as well. The Origami has built-in generators so it recharges itself as you walk!
The price is an issue, but it is comparable to the Bugaboo. My only other concern is the weight: 29 lbs. Hauling this thing and out of your car will require a bit of muscle (not too much), but this too is on par with the Bugaboo. With all its other outstanding features, it certainly beats the Bugaboo by far. The Origami is truly state-of-the-art. On Amazon
