When Beyonce is seen with your bag, you know you’re a major contender in the world of covetable bags. For Tory Burch, it’s the streetwise 797 satchel that marks her big breakthrough. Actually, Beyoncé-approved or not, this style stands on its own as the perfect cross between a structured tote and slouchy satchel. Named after Tory’s Madison Avenue flagship address, she had to get it right. And success it is! With loads of nonchalance, the 797 has a enviable downtown vibe. The slip-through tab assists in bringing a hint of insouciance, and the overall effect is of serious attitude. Equally successful as a top-handle or shoulder bag, Tory also proves she can nail an often-unattainable balance.
Of course, Beyoncé has the luscious blue crocodile edition (available exclusively at the Madison Avenue boutique for $9,950), but pebbled leather is a great all-around bag (and heaps more affordable). The 797 also comes in suede – lust inducing in rich blue, but I worry about wear and dirt when it comes to an everyday bag in light suede. Opt for black leather and carry it like crazy.
