Much like our phones, clutches are getting smarter. I have a collection of special pouches for the purpose of organizing my more slender of carryalls, but now they might not be necessary. At least not with bags like this Mason Martin Margiela clutch, complete with its own set of organized compartments, which eliminate the need for a wallet – and the irksome bulk that comes with it. The main compartment consists of a zip pocket, so it must fit everything – your phone, any cosmetics you need, keys – and the rest just consists of a bill holder and card slots. Limiting, yes, but sometimes it’s liberating to carry only the bare necessities (and it lets you realize you may not need much more for certain occasions).
The slightly shiny textured leather is evocative of eel – it’s interesting that increasingly popular eel skin would be faux-ed, since it used to be such a low-end exotic. But Margiela is always one to be original (if nothing else!) and this eel skin has been abstracted to the point of adaptable interest. This is a sleek, elegant clutch that’s versatile when it comes to coordination and it takes all the guesswork out of keeping your goods in order. On Ssense
