This baby top-handle bag is so adorable, it reminds me of a little girl’s bag. A little girl who has very highbrow and precocious taste, of course. Mulberry has brought their appealing mixture of English refinement and youthful verve to yet another bag and the outcome of the small Polly is playful and relaxed (unlike the full-sized Polly, which has a dowdier feel). Deep navy blue leather, simple gold hardware, and a structured, conservative brown handle (love the contrasting straps) is a traditional combination – perfect for a spunky, pint-sized purse. The option of the shoulder strap allows you to put a totally different spin on it, going from structured to carefree.
I could see Rachel Bilson (although she is total Chanel and Hermès snob) or someone with a similarly fresh, modern, and casual style carrying this. She would shake it up with a lot texture and color, which is exactly what this bag demands – mismatched madness that’s full of character. On My Theresa for $1,069.
Pair with: Turn the ladylike look on its head with Nicholas Kirkwood‘s Ayers-heel suede pump, forest green suede on an angular laminated fuchsia heel. Dress the rest down with a pair of scruffy cropped jeans and a collared silk shirt. At Neiman Marcus for $855.
