3.1 Phillip Lim “Pashli” Bucket Bag: Practically a No-Brainer

A tweaked take on the bucket bag makes for the ultimate pragmatist’s all-day, everyday carryall. Elongated and tapered, this is not your typical bucket (I don’t like conventional bucket bags; the obtrusive bottoms are so round they don’t conform to your body, but rather awkwardly protrude from your hips). Phillip Lim clearly took the aim for daily wear and longevity into account when devising the “Pashli.”

From far away, it might appear ordinary, but it’s the minute details that take it from blah to snob. Elements like the offset vertical zipper, slouchy opening, grainy calfskin, unique ball-chain zipper-pulls, pinked edges along the seams for a flirty zigzag effect are what define it. In black, I might not have the same reaction. Taupe is tops for me – it’s just as neutral and not as heavy on the eyes. With a lengthy shoulder strap (one that actually works for me), this is versatile enough to be the bag you can commit to for fall. On ShopBop for $895.

Pair with: Once you have your staple bag, you need your practical wedge booties. Ash’s “Fuji” ankle boots have a tapered toe and grained leather to pick up on the so-called bucket’s texture. At Saks Fifth Avenue for $260.
