The union of Peter Pilotto‘s bold draping and graduated prints is a surrealist feast for the eyes. An effect that’s so architectural, yet it’s just soft silk crepe de chine. The origami-like feel reminds me of Issey Miyake (what happened to them? They were so big in the nineties), but this is a dress that reeks of individuality.
A boned bodice with sheer insets lays the foundation for wafts of pleated fabric, but it’s the hypnotizing patterns that steal the show. It almost reads like a mix of several scarves, all skillfully draped around each other. I love how all the contrasting prints are combined – it’s an arresting merging brought together via fuzzy ombré. Entertainment for the eyes!
With so much going on, it might detract from unwanted bulges here and there, but keep in mind, fabric draped like this tends to poof out.
