A bag like this makes me want to throw caution to the wind and run off on a worldly adventure. Maison Martin Margiela “Replica 1986 Dublin” bag is fit for a sensual female version of Indiana Jones (although Harrison Ford was once sensual, but that was back in the mid-eighties, too). Two-tone brown leather is actually exhilarating when it’s done with this much gusto, and in such a classic design with impeccable stitching, it’s totally timeless. This bag could be right out of when “Raiders of the Last Ark” takes place (that’s 1936) yet it’s thoroughly modern. Very old-world explorer – I think Columbus may have had this stashed on the Santa Maria.
The long, slender shape is well suited for the shoulder, but I’m seeing this as a dramatic clutch, one that’s rustic and spilling over with attitude. I’m in love beyond words – put this in my hands and I just might be inspired to go attempt some ark-raiding myself. On Luisa Via Roma
Pair with: A true adventuress knows she needs to be ready to battle the elements – and what better armor than a fur vest? Touchable softness with the look of strength. Vests by The Row, Rachel Zoe, Joie, and yes, Maison Martin Margiela would all look fierce with this versatile bag.
