Even though my favorite L’Occitane products are their Amande ones, the Verbena ones are perennial bestsellers so it’s fitting that they just introduced some new, limited edition, verbena-infused products for summer. What makes the launches particularly notable is that they were all designed with sun-exposed skin in mind and all are made with organic verbena extract from Corsica. Out of the five products, two come with SPF 15 sun protection: Protective Body Lotion SPF 15 ($24) and Protective Gloss SPF 15 ($12). The other three newbies are all fragrances or mists: Sun Verbena Eau de Toilette ($48), Milky Fragrance Mist ($48), and Fresh Face Mist ($11).
It’s too bad they couldn’t formulate the two mists with sun protection, it would have definitely been an added perk to know that you’re adding protection while hydrating skin, but I imagine that anyone partial to the refreshing floral-citrus scent will want the mists nevertheless. Similarly, SPF 15 isn’t usually strong enough for me when it comes to body lotion during the summer, but I wouldn’t mind using it in the Fall and it’s great that the gloss has sun protection because lips are often left unprotected and they’re actually a common place for skin cancer to develop (be careful!). For those that are familiar with the classic L’Occitane Verbena scent expect a lot of the same key notes, but an overall lighter/less intense scent. If anyone who works at L’Occitane reads this, please make a verbena diffuser next summer!
