You just put your hair in a ponytail wherever you want the bun to be (the top ballerina is the current look), pull it through the donut hole and wrap it around the donut; then pin the ends – making sure one end of the pin goes into the donut and the other end goes in your hair at the scalp. You need to spread your hair around the donut so none of it is showing, and use the remaining pins to secure it, getting one pin on each side of the bun. I have a ton of dark hair so I can adequately spread it around the donut to cover it entirely.
But if you have thin, blonde hair it might be a bit tricky since the illusion is lost if any of the brown donut is showing (no blonde donut?). If you have thin hair you will need to do it in sections instead of wrapping the entire ponytail around it all at once. This will give a looser bun, which I actually prefer. Once the pins are secured you can play and move your hair around. I also don’t brush my hair back perfectly slick on the scalp – I like it to be a bit messy, otherwise it looks too severe.
