Jo Malone is all about a clean, elegant, and under-stated aesthetic so I was surprised to see that they were introducing some vibrant patterns to their candles. They’ve just teamed up with interior designer David Hicks (whose daughter, India Hicks, was a bridesmaid at Princess Diana’s wedding and will be covering the up-coming royal wedding), for a limited edition line of candles. Hicks gave three of Jo Malone’s bestsellers a makeover: Pomegranate Noir, Lime Basil & Mandarin, and Red Roses ($65 each). I’m a fan of all three scents and recently actually spend a good 30 minutes debating whether I should buy Pomegranate Noir or Lime Basil & Mandarin in the 2.5kg size for my mother (I settled on Lime Basil & Mandarin, which I was told is the most popular…figured it would be the safest to get my mom!). I have to say I like the original packaging better than these bright, pop-influenced ones, but if my apartment didn’t have such a “busy” decor I could see some graphic pops like this fitting in well.
How about you? Would you rather get a traditional Jo Malone candle or one of the David Hicks ones?
Sorry, I stumbled on the 2.5kg part. that’s one heavy candle!
I had to actually go on Jo Malone’s website (http://www.jomalone.co.uk/products/3561/For-The-Home/Luxury-Candles/index.tmpl) to make sure it wasn’t a typo…
I guess that the 7 oz/ 200g is the slightly more affordable end of the scale, but how generous of you to get your mum the MASSIVE size!
They’re huge and heavy! Hopefully will last a long time though…looks great on my mom’s dining room table! I made the mistake of buying it on the one very hot day we’ve had in NYC so far though. They seem to sell really well because the ones I initially wanted, grapefruit or eucalyptus, were both sold out.
I LOVE these! The prints are so great! I can’t imagine how fab the large one must look- great little twist on a Jo Malone candle.
Def the prints! They’re adorable and would really perk up an end table. Love them! xx Glazed
