This is an extreme sunscreen for times when you’re exposed to extreme sun. With a natural formula that combats the development of melanin, it’s helpful after chemical peels and other skin treatments that require you to avoid the sun completely. Incredibly thick, almost pasty, in texture, it is difficult to apply smoothly. While the cream has a light tint, it is basically white; in trying to blend, you are left with allover blotchy spots. Rather, you end up with a look that is more kabuki doll than natural (despite the natural, hypoallergenic formula). This product works for those who are ultra-fair, but for someone like me, who is on the darker side, you wouldn’t want to go out in public with just the Shield. Unless pasty and ghostly is your thing. I had to apply full-coverage foundation on top, which resulted in a very made-up look, especially for day. Not too luminous!
