I love everything in Alexis Bittar’s store, but this draping necklace immediately struck me as unique – not just in general, but compared to the rest of the Lucite-drenched collection. Instead of looking like a knight’s armor, this gunmetal chainmail is actually delicate, thanks to the fine weave and varying stones of pearl, aquamarine, and peridot. Almost something a land-bound – and fashion-forward – mermaid would get caught in and wear. This necklace is super-edgy, but it can go ladylike with the right look. It’s all about appropriation; you just need to bring the attitude. Picture it with a simple white top (love!) – or ditch minimalism and go all out. There is no in-between when it comes this kind of piece. It’s all or nothing. At Nordstrom for $395.
Pair with: Every siren needs bait. Brian Atwood’s “Dante” platform pumps, for $640.
Right now, Alex Bittar is donating the proceeds from his sales to help the Japanese. He did something similar for Haiti. Buy your bling and help someone in need. Do you need any other encouragement?
