I originally saw this product in a magazine when it was giving directions as to how to get a smooth ponytail updo like Gwyneth Palrow. I thought this would be the perfect look for a party I had to go to last weekend so I scooped the product up and went for a trial run. I should preface this with the note that when I see a celeb with a new hairstyle, I convince myself I can get my hair to look exactly like it with no professional help needed. This was demonstrated my sophomore year in college when Heidi Klum got her fabulous bangs and I looked at my best friend and said, “I could totally rock that” and handed her the scissors. Much to my dismay, due to my colic and my curly textured hair, I looked more like a poodle with a hairpiece than a super model and was forced to wear a headband for the next year which resulted in my nickname around campus of “headband girl.”
This result wasn’t as tragic, but since Gwyneth was blessed with smooth (at least from what I can tell) straight hair, this product I’m sure has a very different affect on her hair than it did on mine, but my results were great nonetheless. I applied the product to damp hair and blew my hair straight, I followed with a straightening iron and pulled my hair into a pony tail. The result wasn’t the extreme straight perfection that is Gwen’s look, but mine was my own and I loved it. This made my hair a lot softer without weighing it down, smoothed down the little baby hairs near my face and made the few dry ends I have (needed a trim badly at the time) and no one was the wiser. I love this product and have been using it even when I wear my hair in big curls because it pulls all the flyaway stands together and adds shine and texture.
