With Lady Gaga and Madonna as clients, Francesco Scognamiglio is clearly having a moment all his own. While at first glance this young Italian appears to appeal to the Ferré, Pucci and Aquilano Rimondi set, upon closer inspection he’s actually a lot more engaging–dare I say kinky even. While his designs maintain classic shapes–pantsuits, gowns, blouses–they’re cut, adorned and embroidered in fantastical ways (witness the gold harness on Coco Rocha). Scognamiglio showed lots of body-conscious molding for fall, including a white down jacket with second skin quilting and another keyhole dress that left little to the imagination thanks to its black lace composition. But when you’re building a business on the principals of show business, would you expect anything less?
