Blake Lively in Alexander McQueen

This strapless Alexander McQueen trend is going nowhere fast, isn’t it? From Michelle Obama’s much-ballyhooed about State Dinner gown to Mila Kunis at the SAG Awards, now comes Blake Lively in yet another strapless McQueen floor-sweeper designed by the supremely talented Sarah Burton. At Wednesday night’s amfAR gala, the “Gossip Girl” star, who’s rumored to be playing the role of Carrie Bradshaw in a “Sex and the City” prequel, donned a Spring 2011 runway folklore print bustier dress that she cinched at the waist with a double buckle belt. There’s no doubt this gown is gorgeous, a work of art even, but is anyone else getting a little tired of this McQueen mold? Burton is so talented and she sent out so many different looks that it’s disappointing that bold-faced A-listers keep flocking to the same exact silhouette over and over and over again. I would’ve loved to have seen Blake, who likes to take a fashion risk, in one of the more embellished creations, one that really captures the red carpet’s attention. Not only does this dress magnify her bosoms to the nth degree, but at quick glance, couldn’t you have mistaken it as a Matthew Williamson creation?
