Because, really, who isn’t looking for versatility in their wardrobes these days? The same principle of being able to wear a dress or pantsuit from day into night falls into other areas of dress as well–be it a handbag, a pair of shoes or, in this case, a necklace. Peppercotton, a relatively new brand formed by RISD alums Patrick Culpepper and Aurelia Cotton, is designed with the idea of layering and manipulating color. Of all the pieces in their capsule spring collection, I like their crystal multi-chain necklace most. Painterly in design, the 22″ twisted strand net tube necklace–of which no two are identical–is filled with multi-color Swarovski crystals. A simple gold hook closure with engraved logo detail serves as the clasp. The best part? The necklace can also be wrapped and worn as a multi-strand bracelet. Not exactly a novel idea, but it’s a theme the designer use well throughout the entire collection.
