I can’t fathom ever having the courage to color my own hair, but my mother is starting to see grays and often finds it quicker to touch her roots up in the comfort of her own home rather then rushing to the salon every 10 days. So, when I was sent a sample of Samy Fat Foam to test out it fell on her shoulders to try it! The frugal buy ($9.99), marks the first foam DIY hair color and though I applied it for my mother, it would be easy to do yourself because the foam doesn’t drip like most color solutions do. Also, my mother has scalp sensitivity issues and she often complains about it burning when dyes are applied, but she had no such issues with this one. It comes in 10 shades and while I’ll never go DIY with my highlights, I’d recommend this for anyone looking to cover-up grays, or do a single color process on a budget.
All you do is pour the base solution into the “mixer shake,” add color powder, and then shake it for 30 seconds. You then apply the color (wear gloves!), and leave it on for 30 minutes, before rinsing it off. If you’re coloring your entire head I would however suggest to just do a few strands and wait 48 hours to see the results – better safe than sorry!
