I don’t know what other people think about bags with writing all over them, but I somehow missed the bandwagon for this trend.
I’m not sure why designers have thought, “Yes, let’s put letters and cartoon-ish looking things on an expensive bag then try to sell them to people over the age of 12. Yes, that’s a great idea.”
I do not understand this phenomenon. Let’s say, for argument’s sake, I am going on a trip and I want a bag that’s crazy and different that shows I’m in the fun, travel, let my hair down and make out with a rando from Greece kind of mood (not based on actual events*). Given the circumstance, I would still not pick up this alphabet cluster of a bag and say, “Perfect, now the world will know I am here for sex, drugs and rock and roll. Also, I know my ABC’s.”
Don’t get me wrong, Balenciaga does a whole lot in the “yes” department. But unless you plan on gifting this to your annoying niece who keeps asking you “what comes after d,” I say slob all the way.
If you’d like to brush up on your letters, you can pick up the Balenciaga Daim Alphabet Tote at Barneys for $1,795.00
Lol. Too funny.
I am a teacher so I find this bag really cute. It’s perfect to put my teacher stuff in (extra pair of shoes, lunch, snacks…oh, yeah, and papers to grade).
However, I wouldn’t pay any more than $20, and I wouldn’t use it as my everyday handbag.
Outside of being a teacher, I don’t see how one could admire this trend I’m so glad I missed…xoxo

Totally agree. It just looks like a canvas tote with random letter stickers all over it. You have to wonder what designers are thinking sometimes.
Emma, first of all, your writing is hilarious! (let me my hair down and make out with a rando! LOL) Definitely brings back memories of backpacking in Europe in my youth:)
As for the bag, I’m not a teacher, but I still agrees with Mochababe73. I would go even further, i have a free bag/tote I got from Neiman or Saks for buying makeup, that is better as a gym bag. This bag is laughable, you are better off paying less buying a LV tote for every day! (classic never goes out of style)…i love Balenciaga clothing and i have a great black bag (leather from them), but this is a joke.
I am so glad you guys like Emma’s writing, she is so funny that I start laughing when I see an email from her before even reading!
As for the bag, this is so N and O.
Thanks guys! Totally agree on the bag working for teachers. I could see some of my teacher friends toting this to school, but not at that price, yikes! I’m so happy you enjoyed the post!:)
When I look at this bag, two letters come to mind: N O
