My initial thought on this shoe was, “Gee, it’s rather conservative, almost sensible, for Christian Louboutin.” Then I remembered: this wood platform wedge sandal was designed for Roland Mouret and not Roberto Cavalli. In keeping with Roland’s sleek sheaths that had a whisper of Japanese influence in them, the Louboutins are, in a way, a modern, Westernized take on the traditional kabuki sandals. To be honest, you only see the red soles at certain angles–and at first glance one would never even know these were Louboutins. This is definitely not the typical kind of Louboutin his adoring fan base gravitates toward; they’ll no doubt find it too tame for their money. But then again, taste is something that is reserved for the very few, isn’t it?
