Roger Vivier Spring 2011

Channeling an al fresco lifestyle, Bruno Frisoni envisioned summering along the Amalfi Coast for his spring Roger Vivier collection. Designed not necessarily for red carpet gowns, these sumptuous pieces nevertheless encourage a woman to live her life. Set in a venue complete with a backdrop of palm trees and woven baskets, the natural theme came through with patent leather appliqués–fish, turtles, even seaweed–embellished on everything from flat sandals to woven raffia totes and clutches (the same motifs were visible in charming resin decorated necklaces). Stripes, meanwhile, were “burnt” onto leather bags like an animal’s brand all in an effort to convey the warmth of sunshine. Cubism, another core component of the collection, delivered sharp solid square heels and blocks of color. The seaside theme continued with suede “fishnet” in sandals and the iconic Miss Viv bag. Also on tap? The brand is launching the Miss X collection, lacquer-coated canvas bags and totes as well as small leather goods, all with an overlapping buckle pattern, inspired by David Hicks.
