One of the quieter, although just as anticipated, events to take place during Paris Fashion Week was the debut of the relaunch of Paco Rabanne’s iconic 1969 chain-mail bag as designed by Rei Kawakubo. Remember the original Rabanne bag? It was designed with a handle made from those chic metal links that, yes, were used for lavatory chains. The storied French brand has certainly had its share of ups and downs (mostly the latter of late), but hopefully that’ll change–at least in the accessories market–with the chain-mail bag being reissued in a slew of new materials. The new 1969 line will be available in stingray, horn, metal, suede, vegetal and glitter leathers. Retail prices range from $1,400 to $2,200 and it will be sold exclusively in nine Comme des Garçons stores.
