Given the works of art the late Alexander McQueen created during his too-brief time as a designer, it would be near impossible to usurp his creative genius. Remember those armadillo heels? So it was respectful of new creative director Sarah Burton to push the envelope with the shoes–but to only a certain degree. Save for a few fantastical butterfly-covered sandals, the shoes, though wild for most brands, were downright tame for McQueen standards. The majority of the shoes were a gold, square-toed, hobnail boot with hand-carved “iris” heels. To complement these were a few ankle boots with strategically-place cutouts and dusted gold buckles. Check out those cornhusk sandals! Are those fierce or WHAT? For the finale gowns, Burton delivered an homage to her former boss and mentor via a series of elaborately constructed metal sandals that featured painted leather butterflies covering the front of the foot and a heel comprised of stacked butterflies.
OMG! Seriously die here! Such beautiful shoes~
