Kerry Washington in Ports 1961

A much talked about dress featured at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City this September was this short embellished dress from the Ports 1961 Spring 2011 collection. The model glided down the runway with her bouncy blonde curls and her short dress flowing.
Fast forward one month and we see the always gorgeous Kerry Washington in this same dress at the Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards.  Of course the dress is gorgeous, of course Kerry is gorgeous, but this dress was not meant for her.
I feel like she was flipping through fashion show photos and thought, “Hmm, I’d really like to wear that dress!”  So she went to try it on and it was too big, since she’s not as tall as the model.  So instead of throwing in the towel, she thought, “Oh hey, why don’t I wear this white belt I’m wearing with my jeans?! It will show my waist and make the dress fit!”
Well, I have some news for Kerry. It didn’t work.  The length is a bit long making her look shorter than she actually is.  And the belt is just bad. Such a shame.
