The show may have been bore all the elements of a surrealist fantasy, but to achieve the perfect beauty complement to Karl Lagerfeld’s magnificent, couture-like spring designs, Peter Philips looked to the black-white-green French garden that was recreated in the Grand Palais. “Karl showed me a sketch he had drawn of a girl with smoky eyes, so it was clear that we would put the focus on the eyes for this show,” said Chanel’s global creative director of makeup. “From the glow that we can find in black, grey and white pearls and the enamel that Karl integrated into the costume jewelry, I created deep, dark smoky eyes on a luminous fresh face with tinted, dewy lips. Nails were graphic and strong, and a thin black line was drawn in the hair.” To achieve the look, Philips used the following:
-The skin was prepared with Hydramax + Active nourishing cream for dry skin
-The complexion was achieved with Chanel Pro Lumiere Professional Finish Makeup SPF 15
-The smoky eyes arrived via: Les 4 Ombres quadra eye shadow in Regard Perlé (available January 2011) along withChanel Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil Eye Liner in noir
-The cheeks: Joues Contraste powder blush in Espiègle (available in January)
-The Lips: Rouge Coco Shine in “Boy” (available in April 2011)
-The Nails: Le Vernis nail color in Black Pearl on the hands and Le Vernis nail color in Pearl Drop on the feet (both available January 2011)
