Chanel Shoes Spring 2011

Chanel_Shoe_12.jpg

Sensible shoes were aplenty at Tuesday’s Chanel show. Boring right? But not where Karl Lagerfeld is concerned, who whimsically applied the maison’s iconic tweed to the side soles of platform sandals and all over boots in the name of a reinvention. Several pairs of ankle boots, all with chunky black platforms, featured intricate façades–including one boot that, in a twist of irony, boasted a design that replicated an aerial view of the show’s grand park-like layout. I loved the full-tweed boot with asymmetrical side zip and leather band across the front; I think it’ll be a best seller for the company come spring. The rest of the shoes were a bit too geisha-like for me.
