Nancy Gonzalez Crocodile Satchel in Bone

I was told, very sternly, by all who is responsible/involved with my finances to “STOP BUYING BAGS” for the rest of the year. Fair enough. Two months of work to refinance our house only to save enough money each month to buy half a bag does not seem savvy by any measure. I was fine with that decision until I saw this. No words or comments necessary as to why I am willing to jeopardize my well being for such perfection. I went through all the justification buzz words like, “investment, timeless, effortless, chic, will never buy another bag after this ever again”. Well, it’s not like rational behavior has governed my life up until this point, so what the hell! Bergdorf Goodman, here I come!! For $2800. (To my Tech Snob husband, who reads Bag Snob daily, “You can buy a new laptop every month, too”.)

  1. Kelly. I have to agree w u that the color of this bag and the shape/structure of the bag are breathtaking in picture. Can’t wait to see it in person!

  2. Simplicity can be so beautiful. Sometimes, a handbag doesn’t need to have a whole lot of bells and whistles to be stunning.

  3. Please tell me you’re joking about buying this when you can’t afford it. Buying things we cannot afford is how we get into this recession to begin with.

  4. Girl, a 5/1 arm is 3.50% now. You can do a 30 yr fixed at 4.50 and if you need a jumbo add on another point. The monthly savings from a refi maybuy you that bag in a month or two — I don’t know how much your mortgage is. Anywho, save your pennies.

Also, Nancy doesn’t use top of the line materials — that’s why it’s cheaper. Another reason you should save your pennies. We should all do better, because we can and we should no better especially when we know better. I wish you and your family the best.

  5. Buying a bag like this when you already have a ton in your closet and you’re trying to refi is a total waste of money and a major uncool fail – wake up, we’re in 2010, wasting money like this is not fashionable anymore, and you’re not being a very good role model for the younger generation.

  6. Thanks for all your concern. I totally agree, I would never buy something I cannot afford!! It’s just not smart to spend all my expendable income on bags, instead of traveling more or buying a new car. I did not refi just to buy another bag, I was just making a comparison between this bag and my new mortgage as a reference point. And yes, we are in a whole load of trouble because people over borrowed BUT if you can, you should buy buy buy to help recovery efforts!! =)

    Love, Kelly
