“They have an air of old world glamour but with updated, ease of a modern woman,” says Jason Wu. The same credo that Jason applies to his ready-to-wear is right at home for his debut handbag collection. On Friday’s sublime show, Jason debuted his first-ever accessories collections comprising shoes and handbags. The 27-year-old sent three forties bag styles down his runway, including a classic tote, refined clutch and a polished nickel frame “Miss Wu” shoulder bag. It’s decidedly subtle, unabashed elegant but yet has enough oomph to really make a statement. A closer look backstage revealed its gorgeous signature grey grosgrain lining and leather interior pockets with contrasting outer pocket–not to mention a too-cute-for-words mirror with owl etching (the owl being Jason’s new wide-eyed “mascot” of sorts–it’s one of his favorite animals). Overall, the collection will feature some hues as nude, luggage brown and navy tones. Ladies, clear out that bag closet: you’ve got a Wu bag in your near future.
$995 to $1,995, available in January 2011
I love the nickel frame, and the tote! The owl is so sweet!
Where can one purchase them in January? Are they exclusive to a particular department store, or to Mr. Wu’s boutiques only?
I’m in California, so I’ve got Saks, Nieman’s, I have Nordstrom too, but don’t see these bags going there.
