I’m completely obsessed with orange, which was used everywhere from Ohne Titel to Marc by Marc Jacobs. The Estee Lauder team was the first to use the shade however at Lam, when Estee Lauder Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux
created a graphic orange eye. See how it was achieved and what the super sweet Orlando Pita told me after the jump!
Estee Lauder Pure Color EyeShadow in Sugar Cube or Sandbar Beige, Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara in Black, and Double Wear Stay-in-Place Lip Pencil in Coral were used on the models’ eyes. To achieve the orange-shaded look, Pecheux used two Pure Color Lipsticks, launching in March 2011, and Double Wear Stay-in-Place Lip Pencil in Coral (a few months ago I was actually sent a few Estee Lauder red lip pencils and use them on my eyes every so often, so I was excited to see that professionals do the same!).
As for the hair, Pita conceptualized the look using the Orlando Pita T3 line and told me that he and Lam wanted it to be “a little 60’s inspired, but done in modern, effortless way.” The hair team started by blow drying with T3’s Evolution Dryer and using T3 Elevate Heat-Seeking Volumizer for texture and Plump Volumizing Spray. The hair was then pulled and pinned in the front and finished with a little back bump. For the models with very textured hair, Pita used a T3 Straightening Iron. All of the girls’ hair looks were finished with T3 Control Heat-Seeking Hair Spray to make sure the hair stayed flat throughout the show.
I’ve been seeing this orange all over the runways…and I was so happy to find some info on the new look. From a distance, the graphic orange is so bright, and just POPS, that I assumed it had been glued onto the lid. Thanks for the insight.
This orange shade is very pretty, like the orange lips at Prada the last spring season…
