This exfoliator heats up when mixed with water, as in, it is hot to the touch. I have never experienced anything like this before. The packaging says that I will feel a warm sensation but I thought my skin will just feel warm when I apply it, so I was thrown back and slightly confused when I squeezed this on my fingers and felt it get all hot. I was like, am I getting hot flashes? It is a clay based scrub so the consistency is pasty and when applied to the skin it does not disperse like other scrubs so you really get a concentration of product while working it on. The bamboo makes this a rougher exfoliant but the grains are very fine, I definitely felt like I was removing some dead skin. I did this after an enzyme mask, which was a bad idea because my skin was really thinned out and I was totally feeling it. The instructions said to leave it on for a minute after working it in but I couldn’t stand it, between the enzyme and this heat, my skin was on fire! I did try it again a few days later and did not feel the burning so I do not blame this product for that. My skin did look incredibly radiant and fresh! The antioxidant ingredients help to protect your skin from the environment which is a nice added benefit. At Scientic Skin for

The reason it get’s hot is because it contains Zeolites (mineral adsorption filters)which have inherent heat generating reactions when transitioning from dehydrated to hydrated (contact with your moisture containing skin)
The warmer the skin cells, the more effective the exfoliation.
– Also soothes the new freshly exposed skin cells.
The bamboo in the product is there for abrasive purposes to to slough away the dead skin cells. Bamboo makes a good abrasive because its up to 70% silica minerals (Sand)
Think of it as a bio-botanical sandpaper with self heating properties to soften the skin for easy removal.
