What do you get when you take two Ultimate Bootcamp classes in a row? Very, very, VERY sore muscles – I should have known right? I’ve been eating out a ridiculous amount lately and it has not been of the raw food, health-conscious kind, but rather of the 6-course, wine-paired tasting kind. Needless to say I was feeling like I could hit the gym extra hard before going out to the Hamptons. Unfortunately I went overboard and my legs and abs ended up so sore I couldn’t even sleep properly. Thank goodness a friend of mine, Pamela, works with Nelson’s! I swear by their products and when my trainer told me to lather on an Arnica gel to sooth my muscles, I was happy to find that the homeopathic maker made one such gel ($6.85). The gel is non-sticky and fast-absorbing, so you can put on your clothes relatively quickly after applying it. It has a light cooling sensation that helps sooth sore muscles, bruises, and other like injuries. Pamela also hooked me up with a bottle of Bach Rescue Gel ($11), which isn’t formulated with Arnica montana (the active ingredient in the other gel), but works just a well on tired muscles. I honestly found them both to be equally effective and equally moisturizing. The only difference is that Arnica has a light, somewhat herb-y smell. Neither will completed rid you of your sore muscles, but they’ll sooth them so you can at least sleep through the night. They’re also both great on sore feet.
