In a noticeable return to ladylike dressing, Oscar de la Renta’s divine Resort 2011 collection was complemented by a chic array of–dare I say–sensible heel heights that, despite their lack of vertiginous oomph, are nevertheless guaranteed to be right on the mark for the months to come. One of the more popular styles is the tweed leather gold chain slingback, which was paired with most of the beginning day looks. Also of emphasis was an Elaphe slingback shown in both denim and beige. What is more classic Oscar than a prim and proper slingback but given a twist thanks to a modern update with fabrics and materials? Black satin was the fabric du jour for the evening gowns–some simply unadorned while others trimmed with black roses or dyed in a gorgeous coral hue. Complementing several of the navy and white day looks was a pewter metallic leather slingback that provided the perfect exclamation point.
