KT Tape is the first-ever kinesiology tape to come in pre-cut strips specifically designed for consumer use. If you’re not familiar with kinesiology tape, it’s a high performance elastic athletic tape used by medical professionals for treating muscle and joint injuries and up until this tape hit the market you needed special training to be able to cut and use it. The tape is great, because it doesn’t have any of the side-effects that oral meds do and can relief dozens of aches (runner’s knee, tennis elbow, Achilles tendonitis, shin splints, sprains, general back and shoulder pain, muscle soreness…). The KT website has how-to videos and each pack comes with specific instruction on how to apply the tape for various types of pain.
The one downside is that depending on where you’re experiencing pain, you might need someone to help you in applying the tape properly. Jump for more!
Logistically the tape works by relieving pressure on pain transmitters and the tape is available in a bunch of colors. Each application lasts up to five days and is water resistant, so it stays on in the pool and shower.
