Derek Lam, who has enjoyed some impressive success with his line of rich, well-finished, handbags, has expanded his offerings for resort, offering a wide gamut of styles to suit his stylish client’s every need. At a preview of his resort bags at his SoHo store the other day, I was immediately drawn to the pebbled leather Ume rams messenger. Clearly it’s not meant to hold books and newspapers; rather it’s a darling of a bag for weekend brunch outings and art gallery hopping (the white leather version is super chic with the signature ram hardware). A new style for resort is the Eiko bag (shown in orange and blue in the photo), which is done in a pebbled leather with a slim silhouette that gently caresses the body. Eel was also introduced in both a clutch and tote for resort–the former a zip-and-fold easy evening bag, the latter a flat, albeit utilitarian, example of practicality down right. The larger black and white tote in the photos here is the Nami tote, featuring blue pebbled leather trimmed with vachetta leather.
