With a big push on knits for resort, Derek Lam delivered a solid collection that was rich with eyelet and easy dressing. The lines were clean, sharp and sophisticated–be it the shirtdresses (in a new “Safety Orange”) or fun full skirts. His origami-esque draping of silk on tops and dresses was both refined and wearable, the former paired with tailored pants that juxtaposed nicely. The eyelets pieces, however, were the true standouts. They were printed onto crepe de chine for day and beaded onto silk georgette for evening. Most impressive? A classic cashmere cardigan with chiffon eyeleted onto the back. Talk about ease.
