As if the tony oceanfront communities known as the Hamptons wasn’t already ritzy enough, insert Creed into the equation for some true olfactory overload. The legendary perfumer, celebrating its 250th anniversary this year, recently made its debut at the Saks Fifth Avenue in Southampton and to celebrate, sent bottles of some of its most beloved scents–including Royal Water, Original Santal and Virgin Island Water–to the Southampton Village Police Department as, according to the company, “a gesture of greeting to those whose selfless sacrifice keeps the community safe.” Specifically, bottles of fragrances were sent to the police chief and his top three officers, while a supply of Silver Mountain Water samples were delivered to the rest of the force.
Virgin Island Water, a unisex scent, celebrates the Creed family’s passion for sailing–specifically, near Ginger Island, an uninhabited xanadu in the Virgin Islands. Royal Water, meanwhile, is a tribute to the next generation of The House of Windsor (Britain’s young royals). Dry, clean and classic, to mark the 27th birthday of Prince William, Creed recently redesigned the bottle to give it a more contemporary look. Lastly, Original Santal, also unisex, took to Asia for inspiration. Royal sandalwood trees from India are infused with pure elements for spiritual strength and calming power. What’s more, a portion of U.S. sales of Original Santal was donated to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, which aids millions displaced by natural and other disasters.
So don’t be surprised if one night during your Hamptons revelry, as you break the 25 mile per hour Southampton speed limit, you detect a refined Parisian aroma wafting from the officer as you’re pulled over. Trust me: getting a ticket will never seem, or smell, the same again!
