Whew, I am back in LA and needing to do some catching up! Before we move along to Paris, there was one bag I saw in Milan that needs to be properly mentioned. This collection was highly anticipated because it was designer Massimiliano Giornetti’s first season for the women’s collection, which includes the accessories. Although I appreciate his respect for the long illustrious history of Ferragamo, his collection was mainly a throw back the glorious days of the 70’s when Ferragamo reigned supreme. Most of the bags were oversized saddle bags and although the styles can be considered “vintage”, to me they were just very played out. However, this new clutch is fascinating and totally fresh. It is loosely ruched on one side with a tortoise bar closure. It still has the charm of the old but shaken up with a twist (wait, that sounds like a James Bond drink, is it martini time already?). It is an instant classic, too bad it missed the Oscars by a week but we can be sure it will make it down the red carpet soon.
For Runway, our Man Snob covered Ferragamo on Couture Snob.
Don’t like it at all. Yes, its a nice shape but do not like how one side is pleated. Also the seam down the center makes it look cheap as the skin has been cut. Nice design but poorly executed and can do without the half pleats….
I agree with S. This clutch does look like Giornetti couldn’t decide between a plain clutch or a ruched clutch and went with the “genius” idea of doing half and half to get the best of both worlds.
Well, it didn’t. Get the best of both worlds.
