One of my best friends recently had a “Touch of Pink”-themed birthday party at La Grenouille (her family owns the restaurant so the whole upper floor — where Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote Le Petite Prince in the 40s! — was reserved for the party). The theme extended to the flower arrangements, the decor, and even the food (rose-flavored cakes, macaroons, ice cream…)…pretty fabulous! Plus I love a man who can pull-off a touch of pink:-) Rose is one of the most delicate, refreshing, and delectable scents (roses are even edible after-all!), so it’s fitting that every year since 1996, Jo Malone has released their Red Roses Fragrance Chronicle ($95) which house the Red Roses Cologne along with three acompagning scents that can be layered, around Valentine’s Day. Jump for More!
The Red Roses Cologne is made using seven varieties of roses and the result, as you might expect, smells something akin to freshly cut roses. What I love about Jo Malone is their fragrances are meant to be layered so you can combine the cologne with the accompanying accords to create something wholly unique (this will have to do until I can afford my own $12,000 bespoke fragrance from Francis Kurkdjian…one day!). In addition to the 30ml cologne the set comes with 9ml bottles of Moroccan Mint Leaf (herbaceous mint and sweet basil, blended with water jasmine and violet), Ice Rose (scent of flowers in the morning dew), Honeycomb (sweet honey, precious woods and resins).
The best part? All comes packaged in one of Jo Malone’s beautiful signature boxes, making it great both for yourself or as a gift.
