The day Tod’s fails me will be a very sad day indeed. You just cannot overstate the beauty of their understated luxury. Luxury sounds like it should be excessive and impractical but that is exactly what Tod’s is not. That’s how I easily justify every Tod’s bag. Those are the only bags I retire from wear instead of outdatedness. This bag to me is like their driving moccasins – comfortable and personal, as in, it becomes a part of me. Relaxed and easy yet sophisticated and chic. I love the loose shape with the handcrafted feel of the center seam. With this style you do need to go bold with the color and red is certainly big and showy, but instead of a hard to wear candy apple, this muted soft red ensures wearability and longevity (also comes in tobacco – blah, but the gray is a yay!). At Bergdorf Goodman for $1445. There is also a black version at Saks.com
I have to agree that this season Tod’s has come out with some gorgeous bags. They are definitely understated but they are going back to an era where they had wonderful bags. About 12 years ago, when i was still working in corporate, Tod bags were the “it” bags, esp for the office! (the leather was beautiful, soft, yet still tough for the daily grind). Then Tod’s veered off the last few seasons to some odd colors and designs. But this past season Tod’s came back with gorgeous neutral and colors and the soft leather that I used to love. This is gorgeous.
I saw Tod’s advertising campaign in this month’s Harper’s Bazaar and I fell in love with this bag almost immediately! Funnily enough I also thought Tina will love it! Is that the case Kelly?? xoxo
Kelly,
Do you think you can humor me with a quick tutorial about how this bag is different from the D-Styling Bauletto you covered last fall? I am still thinking about getting that one, and would like to know if this one is all that different.
I saw it IRL and it is gorgeous and classic. I didn’t buy it though because I would have preferred the strap to be 2 inches longer as I like to be able to wear it on my shoulder. The lines and feel of the leather remind me so much of Valextra!
I saw the bag in real life (cannot afford it) but it is beautiful! The red is a blue red so it is amazing and perfect for Chinese New Year! Call Justin at South Coast Plaza to get the last one in the company! (714) 556-0239. He is really nice and knows his stuff, not to mention, he is really handsome 🙂
I have this bag in another color and I love it! I now want the red! I am able to put it over my shoulder with no problem. It also has an additional shoulder strap.
Tod’s has really outdone themselves this season. The bags are gorgeous and classic yet modern. This color is stunning. I wish that I could afford to purchase one. Although I don’t mind logos on handbags, it’s refreshing to see one without it. If you create a beautiful handbag that makes a statement, no logo is needed.
Tod’s is not very creative when it comes to naming their bags, all bags with 2 handles are called Bauletto.
