Simply put: I want this bag. It’s only January, yet one look at this Burberry Prorsum leather messenger and I’m already counting down the days until fall arrives for me to snatch up this delicious Man Snob-approved bag. I’m usually pretty blasé when it comes to men’s bags (translation: it takes a lot to impress me), but I dare say this one is drool worthy. The slouchy shape gives it a cool, relaxed attitude, and I just love the shearling lining that peaks through oh-so-subtlety. I haven’t seen a black leather bag that’s looked this good in quite some time. The fact that it’s large and roomy–note the fully adjustable width–and features oversized zip pulls makes this an instant must-have. It also looks like the strap may be removable, making it a great portfolio to lend a dash of bohemian edge to those three-piece suits. This one is perfect for both work and play. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Christopher Bailey will green light production on this bag; my letter imploring him is already on its way to London.

This bag will easily be over 3K if not close to 4K. (Prorsum’s roomy canvas bags were 1,450 from Spring ’09). I will not pay that much for a Burberry bag that I would be lucky to get $500 for on eBay when I tire of it. And maybe this would fly for work in the fashion industry, but not in the real world.
This would be nicer without the shearling, with it this bag can so clearly only be used during winter months.
