We visited Bottega Veneta‘s showroom last week and were left to our own devices for about 5 minutes (yes, it did cross our minds to stuff every bag in there down our dresses) to play with the bags. We not only previewed the Resort bags, we got a sneak peek at the Spring 2010 bags! The stand out was an insanely fabulous Cabat bag made of tie dye woven leather. It was absolutely gorgeous and part of Bottega’s new men’s line. Our friend John Pfeiffer (THE model guru who books models for every important show in NY) also had a sick Bottega bag from the new men’s collection, it had a distressed olive/gold finish that I’d never seen before and gave the classic woven pattern a fresh new twist. (Jump for photos of both)
We were intoxicated by the scent and sight of so many amazing Bottega bags but I zeroed in on the San Marco lilac gold karung twisted bag and have been dreaming about it since returning home. The gold karung is twisted and interwoven into the body of the bag in a circular pattern and is an exemplary example of the Four Cornerstones of Bottega Veneta:
1. Contemporary functionality
2. Outstanding craftmsmanship
3. Innovative design
4. Highest quality materials
I love that the brand continually challenges itself in innovation and design each season. I’m constantly surprised and will never, ever tire of Bottega! The San Marco Lilac/Gold Karung is $3,600 at Bottega here.
That tie-dye cabat bag has been my number one lust since the BV men’s show back in June. I understand that the price is $9800 or thereabouts. Ah, “to sleep, perchance to dream” to quote Big Bill.
beautiful!
I have the black San Marco. I got it back in early August. Tina, we seem to have the same taste. Are you sure you don’t need a Bag Snob correspondent based in New York. If you do, I’m your woman!!!
Kay, I am actually torn between black and the lilac. I’m getting the lilac karung with the truffle detail on top so maybe I should do the black. But ordered the black waxed python so don’t want to do two black bags from BV in one season. OMG, decisions!
And we may take you up on your offer 😉
We have Bag Snob Sharon as our young girl about town but can always use another snob!
Tina, the black is a showstopper. I’m back to black again this season after a break from it. If you were to do 2 bags from BV this would definitely be the time to do it because they are having a fierce Fall/Winter season…
I also bought the black Dior Granville medium handstiched tote which I alternate with the BV San Marco. Also check out the Christian Louboutin Viola clutch. This is the first Louboutin bag that’s caught my interest. I ordered it in this beautiful lipstick red. It also comes in black. It is quite dramatic…The CL stud bag is also very cool…
You need me Tina to add some drama to your blog. You know how to reach me…
